NJ Turnpike Road Rage Results in Attempted Murder Charges
A Halloween day road rage incident on the New Jersey Turnpike has resulted in attempted murder charges.
New Jersey State Police from the Troop “D” Moorestown Station say that on Halloween evening at approximately 11:59, police responded to a call about a possible shooting on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The incident occurred on the southbound lanes near mile marker 48.3.
According to reports, the incident involved a Cadillac Escalade driven by the victim, was allegedly fired on by the driver of a Nissan Altima.
The Altima has struck by several bullets, but the driver wasn't injured.
An investigation led to the arrest of 34-year-old Brandon Rudd of South Mills, North Carolina.
Police say that on November 8, a multi-agency investigation, including the Camden County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina, resulted in locating and arresting Rudd in North Carolina.
Authorities executed search warrants on Rudd's home and vehicles.
The searches resulted in numerous pieces of evidence being recovered, including a firearm and ballistics evidence that was positively matched to the shooting.
Brandon Rudd was subsequently charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a handgun, and possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose.
He is currently lodged in the Albemarle District Jail, pending extradition.
The case is being prosecuted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Subjects named in this story are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
