The phone scams that have been targeting both the Atlantic County, New Jersey Sheriff’s Department and different sectors of the community are continuing.

The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department has just released news about the latest scam… This time it involves medical professionals.

Here is the latest public statement from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department as follows:

“A new scam ALERT is targeting local medical professionals. They are identifying themselves as Sgt Brian Lee from the Atlantic County Sheriffs Office.

They are demanding a call back for important legal reasons. They tell the victim there are two warrants or citations out for their arrest for FTA "failure to appear" and COC "contempt of court" for missing a subpoena or court appearance. The scammers tell the victim that they need to come to the sheriffs office for a signature analysis, but will arrested and held for up to 72 hours if they don't post the bail amounts via a "government terminal". They advise the victims that they need to pay using the terminal also known as a bitcoin atm. BE ADVISED, the Sheriffs Office does not have a Sgt. Brian Lee. We also do not ask anyone to pay bail using gift cards or any bitcoins machines. If they call you retain all records such as name/phone number and contact the sheriffs office immediately (609)-909-7200 or your local police department,” said the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department.

This is the latest of several scams that have shaken those who have received phone calls advising that money will have to be paid or else an imminent arrest is about to occur.

The Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department advises that you “confirm any and all calls from the Sheriff's Office by hanging up and calling the Sheriff's Office directly (609) 909-7200.”
