
More About Slain Newark, New Jersey Police Detective
The New Jersey PFRS Cola forum on Facebook has shared a beautiful tribute in Memory of slain Newark, New Jersey Police Detective Joseph Azcona.
Detective Azcona was killed in the line of duty on Friday, March 7, 2025, when 29 gunshots rang out on the streets of Newark … at the hands of an alleged 14-year-old shooter.

The NJ PFRS COLA Forum extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Newark Detective Joseph Azcona, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on March 7, 2025. His courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting the community will never be forgotten. We also send our thoughts and prayers for the full and speedy recovery of the Newark detective who was wounded. May they find strength and healing in the days ahead. Rest in peace, Detective Azcona. Your service and sacrifice will always be honored.

There are many hundreds of more comments. The outpouring of community support for Detective Azcona has been phenomenal and well deserved.
The job of public safety officer had over been more dangerous.
Detective Azcona was only 26 years old.
