Regal Cinemas Brings 2 Dolly Parton Movies to South Jersey for a Great Cause

If you were like me, you were saddened to hear of Dolly Parton's death last week. Like, truly heartbroken.

As someone who was born in 1976, I was fortunate enough to grow up with her music and movies through the 80s. I mentioned this on the air the other day -- "9 to 5" is one of those movies that I've seen a million times and yet I will still watch it every time it shows up on TV. It's such a good movie.

And if you are a fan of Dolly's movies, this is pretty cool news: several Regal Cinemas in South Jersey will be showing two classic Dolly Parton movies this weekend and into early next week, giving fans a chance to see them on the big screen while supporting a cause that's especially close to her heart.

Regal, which is based in Tennessee, originally planned the tribute only for its theaters in the state, but expanded it nationwide after receiving overwhelming feedback.

The Movies Coming to South Jersey

"Steel Magnolias" and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" will be shown at several South Jersey theaters, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Supporting Dolly's Imagination Library

Parton founded Imagination Library in 1995 in Tennessee, initially providing free books to children through the age of five, regardless of their family's income. The program has since expanded across the planet, and it continues her mission of encouraging children to develop a love of reading.

Those earlier screenings in Tennessee raised enough money to provide more than 7,500 books, enough for a year's worth of books for more than 600 children.

Showtime

Regal locations in Mays Landing, at the Cumberland Mall, and Washington Township/Cross Keys will be showing "Steel Magnolias" this Friday, Sunday, and next Tuesday, September 8th.

"Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" will be on the big screen at those three locations this Saturday, Labor Day Monday, and the following Wednesday, September 9th.

All of those screenings are scheduled for around lunchtime; check each theater for specific times.

And this is cool: tickets are $9.25 -- get it? "9-2-5," like the movie title?
