Atlantic County, NJ, Sheriff Makes Arrest Of Knife Wielding Felon

We have confirmed that a knife-wielding incident occurred on Kentucky and Atlantic Avenues, at approximately 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue Was On Hand

Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O'Donoghue was a featured speaker at an event that was held at Atlantic City Mayoral candidate Naeem khan headquarters.

The Sheriff had just arrived only 5 minutes before, as a man walked through the crowd (of about 300 people) and it was noticed that he had a 14-inch knife, with a 9-inch blade.

Sheriff O’Donoghue Sprung Into Action

The man dropped the knife and proceeded to wrap it inside a hoodie, in order to conceal it. That’s when O’Donoghue grabbed the suspect with the knife …  took possession of the knife … made the arrest himself… whereby O’Donoghue held the suspect up against a wall to de-escalate the situation.

Atlantic City Police Officers Were Nearby

The Atlantic City Police Officers were patrolling at Renaissance Plaza and they placed the male in a patrol car . after O’Donoghue turned the male over to the Atlantic City Police Department.

The Facts Of This Incident

I have learned that the Atlantic City Police department released the knife-wielding man within 15 minutes.

The man has a lengthy criminal record. We have also learned that the knife-wielding man had just been released from prison a few days earlier.

The Atlantic City Police Department rearrested the man at approximately 1:30 a.m.

I have spoken with Sheriff O’Donoghue. He is not my source for this report, however, O’Donoghue has confirmed the veracity of this report.

The Atlantic City police department has not yet released any public information about this incident as yet.

This is a developing story. We will reveal the name of the individual who was arrested for possessing the long knife as soon as that information is provided to us.
