Detectives Chase Suspect in Stolen Bullet-riddled Pickup in Washington Twp., NJ
A man is facing charges after police say he fled a traffic stop while driving a stolen, bullet-riddled pickup truck in Gloucester County.
The scene unfolded around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday on Route 42 in Washington Township, when a detective spotted a vehicle displaying stolen license plates.
Suspect Flees High-risk Stop
As officers initiated a high-risk stop on a white Dodge Ram at a gas station on the Black Horse Pike, the driver fled, jumping the median and heading northbound on Route 42.
While fleeing, authorities say the suspect's vehicle hit a curb and another vehicle before breaking down on an on-ramp to the Atlantic City Expressway. The driver then fled on foot into a wooded area behind a New Jersey Transit bus garage.
Officers and a K9 eventually took the suspect, identified as Antjuan Hart-Sydnor, into custody without further incident.
Truck Reported Stolen, Found with Bullet Holes
According to police, the pickup was reported stolen out of Harrison Township and the license plates were stolen out of Lumberton Township. The vehicle had two bullet holes in the rear driver's side door and rear glass.
Hart-Sydnor was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property, eluding law enforcement, and hindering apprehension. He is being held in the Salem County Jail.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
