According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the Eagles and Texans were the first two teams to reach out to free agent right tackle Eric Winston.

Winston just signed a four-year, $22 million contract last offseason with the Chiefs and graded out as top-nine right tackle in Pro Football Focus' 2012 ratings.  Winston is coming of an injury, but assured the Chiefs that he will participate in OTAs after undergoing post-season ankle surgery.

Winston was one of the NFL's premier run-blocking right tackles while playing in Houston and his run blocking success could be what triggered the Eagles interest.  The thinking is he could slide right in as a starter and allow Todd Herremans to slide back and hopefully solidify the problematic right guard spot. Winston is also very familiar with the Texans' zone-blocking scheme after spending the first six years of his career there.
