People have called, texted and sent tweets telling us to stop talking about Marcus Mariota.  They tell me that there is no way the Eagles are going to get him and they there is no way the Eagles have enough to get him even if they want him.

Well...

According to a report from Mark Eckel of NJ.com, the Eagles plan is to try'' to move up in the NFL Draft to select the Oregon quarterback.

In Eckel's piece, the suggests that the recent changes in the Eagles front office gives Kelly the freedom to make a monumental move from pick No. 20 to the top five, where Mariota is expected to land.

According to Eckel's report, per a  NFL personnel executive it would take a No. 1 and a No. 2 this year, a No. 1 next year and running back LeSean McCoy.

So will it happen?

Per the article:

"From No. 20, it's certainly not going to be easy,'' said the person, who requested anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak on the subject. "It's probably going to take moving up twice to do it. There's going to be some wheeling and dealing involved.''

Asked if he thought it could happen, the response was telling.

"Can it happen?'' he asked. "I don't know. But they're going to try.''

The Eagles are going to try - but should they? Get used to it you're going to hear a lot about it.
