The weekend provided fodder for many different topics as the trade deadline approaches, from the Flyers acquisition of Cam Talbot, to Wayne Simmonds' deadline fate, to signs of a possible moving on from Shayne Gostisbehere.

The week ahead for the Flyers is a critical one, both on and off the ice. The trade deadline is one week away from Monday. The Flyers will also play three games that should define where their playoff hopes stand during the week, providing some added transparency into their playoff push and their deadline plans.

The Flyers acquired goalie Cam Talbot from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for goalie Anthony Stolarz, GM Chuck Fletcher announced shortly after midnight on Saturday morning.

According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the Flyers are in preliminary discussions with the Edmonton Oilers regarding a trade around goalie Cam Talbot.

The Flyers played a game against the Kings that was sloppy and frustrating. Yet, there they were, playing in overtime. The overtime featured its share of near-misses as well. The winning streak is over, and now the Flyers need to regroup or their comeback effort this season will fizzle out.

It was during the All-Star break that Flyers captain Claude Giroux said that the team was going to go on a run. To make a playoff push, it is now or never for the Flyers.

The Flyers released an injury update on four players during Friday's practice, while Dale Weise was absent from practice and Anthony Stolarz begins a conditioning assignment.

The Flyers claimed goalie Mike McKenna off waivers on Friday. If McKenna sees the ice for a start, they would also claim an infamous record.

The Flyers recalled 20-year-old netminder Carter Hart on Monday. Goalie Alex Lyon was returned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Anthony Stolarz, who left Saturday's game with an injury, is out for 2-to-4 weeks with a lower-body injury.

If the five-game road trip was going to be an evaluation period for new GM Chuck Fletcher, he should have all the answers he needs. It's time for changes to happen and they could be coming soon.
