The Phillies and pitcher Zack Wheeler have agreed to a three-year $126 million extension, according to reports from Buster Olney and Matt Gelb.

ESPN's Buster Olney writes that there's a "strong sentiment" within the Phillies organization right now that the team would be better off trading Jimmy Rollins as soon as possible. While this is not a surprise, a deal is unlikely - Rollins has 10-and-5 rights and can reject any trade, so he is able to control his own destiny...

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Nationals are expected to make a strong push to sign Braves free agent southpaw Eric O'Flaherty.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com hears that the Phillies are OK with Josh Hamilton's annual salary demands but are concerned about the length of the deal.  Hamilton reportedly is seeking a seven-year, $175 million deal in free agency, but it would be a surprise if he got that much - especially from the Phillies...
