Here are this week’s candidates:

Kristine Miller, Cedar Creek: The junior forward spearheaded Cedar Creek's journey to a Group I state title. Miller dominated once again in the state championship, scoring a game-high 22 points and pulling down 13 rebounds in the Pirates' 50-38 victory over Whippany Park.
Martel Johnson, Atlantic City: The Vikings' senior point guard has kept the team on track during a tremendous run (21 victories in 22 games). Atlantic City coach Gene Allen often credits Johnson as the stabilizing force on a squad that has won a Cape-Atlantic League title and the program's second Group IV state championship. In Wednesday's Tournament of Champions game, Johnson hit a game-tying three-pointer in the contest's final seconds to the game into overtime, leading to another Vikings win.
Deirdre Lenzsch, Mainland Regional: At 15 years old, she ranks among the country's strongest girls. This month, Lenzsch participated in the 2012 National Weightlifting Championships in Columbus, Ohio and took 12th place in a weight class that featured predominately 30-year-olds. She was the youngest member of the group by four years but still managed to qualify for the World Youth Weightlifting Championships, held this September in Slovakia.
Jahleem Montague, Atlantic City: Atlantic City has played its best basketball since the big man returned to the court from a knee injury. Montague, a 6-foot-8 junior, scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the Vikings Group IV title game victory over Elizabeth. He scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help secure the win.
