Eagles Rookie Running Back Wendell Smallwood sat out practice on Wednesday with a Quadriceps Injury.  This strains the Running Back depth in Training Camp as the Eagles are still without Ryan Mathews (also out with an injury) on the practice field.  This leaves Veteran Darren Sproles, 3rd year Back Kenjon Barner and two undrafted rookies to carry the load during practices.

ESPN NFL Nation Eagles Reporter Phil Sheridan joined The Sports Bash on Wednesday and discussed the situation at Training Camp with injuries keeping now two Running Backs out of Practice:

"Smallwood has a quadriceps injury that didn’t sound real severe but it might be a couple of days for him.  Pederson kind of said today that he thinks Matthews will be back probably sometime this week which would help them a lot....You know Kenjon Barner's been here a couple years and two undrafted rookies Cedrick O’Neal and Byron  Marshall are getting a ton of reps; they all catch the ball really well and they're getting a lot of opportunities to be out on the field and get run that they might not be getting if both Matthews and Smallwood were practicing anyway....for right know getting the young guys work probably isn’t the worst thing”
