Fresh off a memorable run to a state title repeat, Atlantic City senior Dayshawn Reynold earned honors as the 97.3 ESPN South Jersey High School Athlete of the Week. The Vikings guard starred throughout the season and emerged as one of the state's toughest perimeter defenders.

Reynolds buried a game-tying three-pointer in the closing moments of Atlantic City's Group IV title game against Linden. That shot pushed the matchup into overtime, where the Vikings eventually pulled away for a win at Rutgers University.

Reynolds claimed 85 percent of the total vote.

Mary Kate Mateer, a senior standout on Ocean City, finished second in voting with seven percent. She helped the Red Raiders wrap up the program's first state championship last Sunday, scoring a team-high 14 points.

Holy Spirit wrestler Pat D'Arcy also received seven percent of the total vote. He placed third in the NJSIAA state wrestling tournament at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Egg Harbor Township wrestler Nigel Toussaint and Ocean City runner Kevin Scott were also nominated.
