The St. Augustine Prep football team kept rolling with a 41-14 win over Absegami, keeping the top spot in our weekly list of the Cape-Atlantic League version of the Fine 5 – a list of the five best teams in the CAL.

We’ll post some of the top performances and teams and give you games to watch moving forward each week – so here is this week’s ‘CAL Fine 5′.

1. St. Augustine Prep Hermits (6-0) – Last week No. 1:  The Prep is a perfect 6-0 and is on top in the Cape-Atlantic League American Conference.  They now have their sights set on earning a home game in the Non-Public IV playoffs next month, they currently are the No. 3 seed in the non-public IV playoff power points.  Next: vs EHT (3-2)

2. St. Joseph Wildcats (4-2) – Last week No. 2: The Wildcats were knocked off by Maryland power Mount St. Joseph, losing 29-0 two weeks ago. This week they came hoe and resembled the Wildcats team we have seen the past few years, blowing AC out 53-15 in Hammonton. St. Joe is currently the No. 3 seed in Non-public II state playoff rankings. Next: at Mainland (2-3)

3. Cedar Creek Pirates (4-1) – Last week No. 3: The Pirates came out of their bye and gave it district rival Oakcrest 40-14 on Friday night in Mays Landing.  Pirates quarterback Jesse Milza accounted for five touchdowns, completing 12 of 22 passes for 350  yards and three touchdowns, running for two scores.  Cedar Creek is the No. 3 seed in the Group II playoffs currently.  Next: vs Lower Cape May (1-4)

4. Buena Chiefs (5-1) – Last week No. 4: The Chiefs were down at Mainland, 10-0 and were without star running back Sam Crouch, who left the game with an injury and did not return.  WIth Crouch out, Senior running back Quadir Albright scored two second-half touchdowns and freshman Sean Rice helped the Chiefs rushing attack. Buena is currently the top seed in Group II.   Next: at Pleasantville (0-6)

5. Millville Thunder-Bolts (3-2) – Last week No. 5:  The Thunder-Bolts earned a hard fought 20-13 win over Ocean City on Friday night.  Their only two losses have come to St. Augustine and St. Joe’s – a game they lost in overtime. This is a dangerous team, and could make some noise in the Group V playoff race, where they are currently the No. 7 seed.  They will be tested this week as they travel to Bridgeton to face a very good Bulldogs team, the winner of this game could appear in this spot next week.  Next: at Bridgeton (3-3)
