The Eagles are getting quarterback Carson Wentz some help back, as the team activated tight end Zach Ertz from injured reserve on Wednesday.

Ertz, who has struggled this season with just 24 catches for 179 yards and one score in six games, hasn't played since injuring his ankle in Week 6.

Without him, the team has turned to third tight end Richard Rogers, who has done a nice job, grading out as the No. 2 tight end in football by PFF behind Travis Kelce of the Chiefs.

Dallas Goedert, who also missed some time with an ankle injury, has been one of the very few bright spots on the Eagles offense.  He has 22 targets and two scores over the past three weeks and 30 grabs for 338 yards and three touchdowns on the season in seven games.

Getting Ertz back could give a spark to the Eagles struggling offense which ranks 25th in scoring at 21.4 points per game and 27th in passing yards per game at 206.4.

The Eagles also announced that right tackle Lane Johnson has been placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. Johnson announced last week that he would miss the reminder of the season.
