At Wednesday's Press Conference, Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni said multiple times he was looking for "Fresh Ideas" when they hired the next Offensive Coordinator.  Saturday Night, those became more than just words, it became a tangible reality.

Both NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter are reporting that the Eagles are hiring Kellen Moore to be their next Offensive Coordinator.  With the Los Angeles Chargers hiring Jim Harbaugh to be their next Head Coach, they let Moore interview for other jobs and he is heading back to the NFC East next season.

Kellen Moore was the Dallas Cowboys Offensive Coordinator from 2019 to 2022 and during that time the Eagles rivals were a Top Ten Scoring team three of those seasons.  Moore was the Chargers Offensive Coordinator this past season but what the 2023 season has in common with the 2020 season is that in both those years, the Chargers and Cowboys Quarterbacks suffered season ending injuries.

Unlike Eagles last Offensive Coordinator Brian Johnson, Philadelphia's new OC Kellen Moore has his entire Coaching Career in the NFL.

After playing seven NFL seasons as a Backup Quarterback for the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys, Moore became the Cowboys Quarterback Coach for the 2018 NFL season.  He has spent the last five seasons as an Offensive Coordinator, and has shown himself to be able to be a more than capable Play Caller in that time.

Kellen Moore brings a more aggressive play calling style to Philadelphia compared to what Brian Johnson and the Eagles Offense showcased last season. As a Quarterback, Moore leaned from:

*Head Coach Chris Peterson at Boise State ran an offense predicated on attacking an opposing defense and neutralizing their strengths through the passing game

*Scott Linehan as Offensive Coordinator with the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys had an aggressive offensive philosophy in part modeled after Mike Martz's "Greatest Show On Turf" to put opposing defenses on their heels

*Jason Garrett was the Cowboys Head Coach when Moore played and Coached in Dallas, his philosophy was to use the vertical passing game for either big plays or to open opportunities in the short to intermediate areas.

Kellen Moore will be Philadelphia's third different Offensive Coordinator in the last four seasons.  He was a potential Head Coaching candidate back in 2021 before the Eagles hired Nick Sirianni.  The Eagles fans are hoping his "Fresh Ideas" mean a more consistent Offense for the 2024 NFL season.
