Former Eagles tight end Zach Ertz could help the Detroit Lions head to their first ever Super Bowl.

The former Eagles tight end has signed a deal to the Lions practice squad, ahead of their NFC Championship game with the 49ers on Sunday. He could be elevated to their active roster for the game after an injury to Lions backup tight end Brock Wright.

Ertz requested a release from the Arizona Cardinals back in November and it was granted, but he never landed with a new team. In Arizona this season, Ertz caught 27 balls for 187 yards and a touchdown before a quad injury sidelined him

The three-time Pro Bowler has the record for most receptions in a season by a tight end, with 116 with the Eagles during the 2018 season.
