What a wild Friday night it was in Week One of the Cape-Atlantic League in South Jersey football.

Our 97.3 ESPN Game of the Week saw the Holy Spirit Spartans travel to Hammonton to take on the Blue Devils in a tight game.

The Blue Devils thought they had a lead going into halftime until the Spartans tied the game with a "Doug Flutie-like" 42-yard TD with just seconds remaining on the clock.

A tightly contested game went to overtime just after 9:30 p.m. when a Holy Spirit drive and regulation was ended on an interception by a Blue Devils defender.

Hammonton was able to take a 22-14 in overtime after a rushing TD, putting Holy Spirit in a sudden death situation. The Spartans scored from a triple-option on the first play of their possession, but failed to score on a two-point conversion losing the game 22-14.
