Former Holy Spirit Spartans quarterback Joe Callahan has been informed that he has made the Packers 53-man roster.

The Absecon native finished the preseason with a strong performance vs. the Chiefs, throwing for 143 yards and a touchdown on Thursday night while playing most of the game.

The Division III Wesley College product will serve as the teams No. 3 quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers and Brett Hundley.

Callahan jumped on to NFL teams radar after winning the Gagliardi Trophy, which is the Division III version of the Heisman trophy, the award is given to the top player Division III player, throwing for a Division III-record 5,063 yards and 55 TDs.

The 2011 graduate, didn't throw the ball much during this tenure at the Absecon school, but did help lead the Spartns to a 12-0 record, that ended with a state Non-Public Group III championship.
