Oakcrest Honors Four Alumni With Spot on Athletic Wall of Fame

MAYS LANDING - An enthusiastic group of teachers and administrators met to form the idea of an Oakcrest High School Athletic Wall of Fame in 1993. Their vision became a reality when Carol Rott used her "Teacher of the Year" stipend to establish the existing Wall of Fame.

In the fall of 1994, 12 alumni and 2 "specials" were inducted to inaugurate an annual school-wide event.

Each year, committee members volunteer their time to select the nominees and plan events.

The 2012 induction ceremony occurred Friday, Sept. 28 and included a dinner reception and the unveiling of the new plaques. The inductees were also introduced to the public during a halftime ceremony at intermission of Oakcrest's football game against visiting Atlantic City.
