Over the All-Star break, Sixers center Spence Hawes was examined by Dr. Richard Ferkel of the Southern California Orthopedic Institute.

At the recommendation of Dr. Ferkel, Hawes is no longer wearing the protective book and he will not play in a game for at least two weeks from today.

Meanwhile, Elton Brand was back at practice on Monday without wearing a splint or using tape to support his thumb, according to a tweet by Dei Lynam.

Brand has been dealing with this injured thumb for much of the season and this could be an injury that could linger for the rest of the year.

Stay tuned to the Sports Bash with Mike Gill for updates on both Hawes' and Brands' status, which will be provided as it becomes available.
