Sa'eed Nelson led St. Augustine with 27 points and 10 assists as the Hermits cruised to a 71-60 win in the Cape Atlantic League championship game on Saturday at Richard Stockton University.

It was the Hermits first CAL title since 2011.  Holy Spirit last won the title in 2009.

The Hermits also got a solid game from Justyn Mutts who scored 21 points and six rebounds, Nate Aldrich added 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

St. Augustine never really trailed in the game, leading 14-12 after one quarter.  The Hermits led by by as many as 18 points in the game with 7:54 left in the final quarter. Holy Spirit did put up a fight, cutting the lead to eight points in the fourth quarter, but that's as close as they could get.

John Middleton had 19 points for the Spartans and Tyler Jones added 16 points, seven rebounds in the loss.

St. Augustine has now won the CAL title for the eight time.  They are 7-4 overall in the CAL finals.  With the loss, Holy Spirit is now 3-2 in the championship game.

In the girls game, Ocean City's Olivia Briggs scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Red Raiders to a 34-26 win over Lower Cape May.
