Report: Eagles give permission to Haason Reddick to seek a trade

Philadelphia Eagles edge rusher Haason Reddick, who had 11 sacks in 2023, has received permission to seek a trade according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Reddick had 16 sacks and was named second-team All-Pro during his first season in Philadelphia in 2022.

According to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia:

Eagles will only do a deal with a team if compensation & cap considerations works out for them. They are trying to find a win-win situation for both sides. It’s my understanding the Eagles have other pressing needs and have limitations to spend more $ on DLine right now.

Reddick is a local guy, having grown up and played high school football in Camden and his college football at Temple.

Riddick, 29, signed a three-year, $45 million deal which included $30 million fully guaranteed at signing before the 2022 season, and has posted four straight seasons with double-digit sacks.

He has been one of the top pass rushers in the NFL over that time, but the Eagles could look to move in a new direction with Vic Fangio now leading the defense and Reddick advancing in age.

While he is one of the top edge rushers, the team struggled against the run, and with Reddick now looking for an extension he could be playing 2024 in a different uniform.

Reddick does have one more year left on his deal, but he has the highest cap number ($21.8 million in 2024) of any player on the roster next season. The Eagles pass rush could have a new look next season with Josh Sweat also entering the final year of their contract.

If Reddick is moved, that would be another key spot on the team's defense that would need to be improved. Brandon Graham and Fletcher Cox are also free agents this offseason and might need to be replaced.
