Jason Richardson will have left knee surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season according to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports.  Richardson was in New York to get a third opinion on his ailing knee earlier today, and apparently the news was not good.

The recovery time is expected to take 6-9 months, which means he should be ready for the start of next season.  Nick Young has been starting in his place and figures to pick up some extra playing time for the season with Richardson out the rest of the way.

Young is averaging 16.7 points and 2.3 three-pointers per game since taking over the starting spot from Richardson.

Richardson has been battling knee issues for most of the season and he received three medical opinions on the proper treatment and had two years remaining on his deal.  He was acquired in the deal that brought Andrew Bynum to the Sixers and sent Andre Iguodala to Denver.
