South Jersey Lifeguard Championships part of Big Sports Weekend

Another big sports weekend is on tap for The Locker Room with Billy Schweim: First The Locker Room team will be broadcasting live Friday night from the beach in Margate for the 2023 South Jersey Lifeguard Championships from 6-8 pm on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey and on the 973 ESPN Mobile App.  All 15 beach patrols from Brigantine to Cape May Point will compete for Lifeguard Supremacy and be crowned Champions of for the Summer of 2023. 

The Phillies are 5-2 during this current homestand and have hit 22 home runs for the hometown crowd.  Trea Turner has turned it around offensively since the Phillies faithful gave in a standing ovation, he’s hit safely in seven straight games with eight RBI.  The Phillies welcome the Minnesota Twins to town for a weekend series. The Twins are in first place in the mediocre American League Central, so hopefully the Phillies continue their hot streak

The Philadelphia Eagles first preseason game of the 2023 season is Saturday night in Baltimore.  Birds' fans have been waiting a long time to see the team back in action after the Super Bowl loss back in February.  We will recap the action on Sunday’s show.

Finally, we saw the nine football legends inducted into the Pro Football Hall Of Fame last Saturday and this weekend we will speak with one of those all-time greats!  On Saturday’s show, we will hear from the New York Jets Sack Master Joe Klecko.  Joe’s nephew, Jake Klecko will be rowing for Wildwood Crest in the South Jersey Lifeguard Championships on Friday Night!  What a month for the Klecko Family!

On Saturday’s The Locker Room with Billy Schweim, Mike Carlin joins me in the studio as we preview the Eagles first preseason game against the Ravens and we will recap the results of the Phillies-Twins game on Friday Night.  In Hour Two we are honored to have newly enshrined member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Joe Klecko call into the show.  Joe will tell us about his career and last weekend's ceremony.  Then we will bring you the Beach Patrol Report brought to you by McCann Realtors of Sea Isle City and the Ocean City Beach Patrol Lifeguard Alumni Association.  We will review Friday night's results and play interviews with some of the winners from the South Jersey Lifeguard Championships.

On Sunday’s show, The Locker Room Youth Movement is back in the studio with Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds will join me to look back at the week in Philly Sports.  Every Sunday we go “On the Mound” with former Phillies pitcher Tommy Greene brought to you by the John R. Elliott Hero Campaign for Designated Drivers.  This week coming out of the bullpen to fill in for Tommy Greene is former Phillies Relief Pitcher and 2008 World Series Champion Scott Eyre.  Tommy is fulfilling his duties to the Phillies on Alumni Weekend.  In Hour Two we will talk with long-time Eagles Writer Paul Domowitch, formerly of the Philadelphia Daily News and now writes for the popular website 33rd Team.
