Amaro on Gill's %$*! List
Mike Gill is none too happy about Ruben Amaro calling Michael Martinez up to replace an injured Chase Utley who was placed on the DL. He doesn't understand how and why the decision got through the front office, calling Amaro and others "boobs" for the decision. Gill would much rather have seen Darrin Ruf...or even Joe Savery get a call over Martinez.
Our injury expert Joe DeRosa talks about the Chase Utley oblique injury and how long we can expect to be without the 2B.
Former Phillies closer Brad Lidge called in to the show and talked with Mike Gill about retiring as a Phillies. Lidge will throw out the first pitch on August 1st against the Giants, all being apart of Alumni weekend. Gill has called Lidge one of the 'most important Phillies of their franchise,' even if it was for only one season, he went 48/48 that season. Lidge talked about his memories in Houston with the Astros, where he spent 6 seasons, but the closer said that his best memories came in Philadelphia winning the World Series in 2008.
Nationals broadcaster called in to preview the Phillies Memorial Day weekend series down D.C. Carpenter said the Nationals cant be happy with being just a game over .500 up to this point, they're just not hitting. This is the first time the two teams will be meeting this season, so both teams will be playing each other 15 more times after this weekend.
It's a Friday edition of top tweets!
Called in from D.C. to preview this weekend's series.
