With the Phillies season coming down to the final month, third baseman Maikel Franco will take batting practice on Wednesday with the hopes of playing before the end of the year.

It's been an up-and-down type of season for Phillies left fielder Cody Asche. After a hot start, Asche started the season 12-for-24, and was hitting .303 entering the month of May. However, on May 11, the Phillies sent Asche to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to learn how to play left field, leading to an eventual promotion of Maikel Franco to take over at third base...

Phillies placed 3B Maikel Franco on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 12, with a non-displaced fracture on his left wrist.  To take his spot on the roster, the Phillies have recalled outfielder Aaron Altherr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
