The Philadelphia Eagles have started their season 3-0 for the second straight year, something no Eagles roster has accomplished since 1992-92 and they are on the verge of joining an exclusive group.

If the Eagles can win this Sunday against the Washington Commanders, they will become just the sixth team this century to begin a season 4-0 in consecutive years. Here are the teams they could be joining:

*KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (2017-20, won Super Bowl 54 and lost Super Bowl 55)
*DENVER BRONCOS (2015-16, won Super Bowl 50)
*NEW YORK GIANTS (2008-09, no Super Bowl appearances)
*INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (2005-07, won Super Bowl 41)
*ST. LOUIS RAMS (2000-01, lost Super Bowl 36)

So here are the top five reasons why the Philadelphia Eagles are undefeated again this season:

1. Jalen Hurts is a winner
Since becoming the Eagles full-time starting Quarterback in 2021, the Eagles are 25-8 (75.8 Winning Percentage) and Philadelphia has won 20 of his last 21 games started. As Jason Kelce said on his New Heights Podcast, Hurts has won everywhere has played: Hurts was 12-2 as Oklahoma's starting Quarterback in 2019 and Alabama was 13-1 in games Hurts started at Quarterback in 2017.

2. Eagles Defense Playing at a High Level
Despite losing five defensive starters from last year's team, the 2023 Eagles are still playing at a high level and are among the best in the NFL.  The Eagles are tied for the second most Quarterback Hurries this season with 20 (tied with the Jaguars and Lions) and they are tied for the third-fewest Missed Tackles in the league (13 - tied with the Ravens and 49ers). Eagles have the ninth-best scoring defense in the NFL (19.7 Points Per Game Allowed) and the defense is tied for the second-most Turnovers forced in the league this season (8 - tied with the Bills).

3. Jake Elliott is one of the best Kickers in the NFL
A big reason why the Eagles have won games this season is because they have a Kicker they can trust to make big field goals. Jake Elliott is in his seventh season with Philadelphia and he has the second most Field Goals Made in the NFL this year (9) along with the fourth most Points Scored (34). Elliott is responsible for scoring 40.5 percent of the Eagles' points this season with three Field Goals made from 50+ yards.

4. The Eagles' Offensive Line is leading the way
Philadelphia has rushed for the second most yards in the NFL this season (557 Yards) and a major reason for that success in the ground game is what some will argue is the best Offensive Line in the league.  Led by future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce (five-time First Team All-Pro Selections) and the best Right Tackle in the NFL Lane Johnson (two-time First Team All-Pro Selections), this offensive line has five powerful and athletic guys who seem to always play at a high level.  Pro Football Focus rated Jordan Mailata as the best Left Tackle in the NFL after Week 2 this year and Landon Dickerson received his first Pro Bowl selection last season.

5. The New Guys are playing well
When the Eagles saw Javon Hargrave, TJ Edwards, and Miles Sanders leave in Free Agency this offseason, there were questions about how the Eagles would replace those players on this roster.  Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman filled two of the voids in the starting lineup during the 2023 NFL Draft when Philadelphia traded up in the first round to select Defensive Lineman Jalen Carter and acquired Running Back D'Andre Swift from the Detroit Lions during Day Three of the Draft.

Jalen Carter has stepped in for Javon Hargrave: Carter leads the Eagles with Six Quarterback Hurries and is tied for the second most in the NFL this season (tied with Cam Jordan of the Saints and Josh Allen of the Jaguars).  D'Andre Swift has the second most Rushing Yards in the NFL this season (308) and has proven to be an upgrade over the former starting Running Back Miles Sanders.  The Eagles added Zach Cunningham during Training Camp and he has proven to be a valuable Linebacker. Cunningham has Nine Solo Tackles this season and in pass coverage, he has allowed the Fewest Yards Per Completion among all defensive players on the team (4.7)
