Congratulations to Hammonton's Christian Mortellite for taking home 97.3 ESPN's High School Athlete of the Winter award.

As we head into the Spring sports season, we have a new batch of local student-athletes this week who have proven themselves worthy.

Khari Harley, Basketball, Egg Harbor Township - The Egg Harbor Township standout scored 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Prime Events All-Star Saturday senior boys basketball game at Ocean City High School. Harley earned MVP honors as "Team Feraco" topped "Team Allen" in double overtime.

Girls Junior Eight Boat, Crew, Egg Harbor Township - The group secured the top time in its division at the Manny Flick-Horvat Series Regatta. Eagles' athletes Emily Woods, Alex Bossi, Rebecca Suthard, Madison Barbieri, Nicole Baliszewski, Sydnie Pennington, Taylor Cass, Danielle McCormick and coxswain Vida Torres completed the 1,500-meter competition in 5:24.90 on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

Deaja Reynolds, Basketball, Atlantic City - The Vikings'  secured MVP honors in the Prime Events All-State Saturday senior girls game. She scored 11 points in a 62-57 win for "Team Smith".

Boys Varsity Four Boat, Crew, Mainland - The Mustangs flourished at the Manny Flick-Horvat Series Regatta. The group, comprised of Vince Carraccio, Jesse Troiano,  Gavin Friehofer, Mark Hewitt, Mike Bell, Martin Brenner, Patrick Green and coxswain John Ellerman, claimed top honors in its flight with a finishing time of 4:51.90.
