Wall to Wall NCAA Basketball Games Overshadows Sixers and Flyers

March Madness started in full force on Thursday and sports fans have been flocking to their local sports bars with their brackets in hand.  It’s a special time of year as hope Springs eternal and each day brings us closer to crowning our 2024 National Champion in College Basketball. 

We are also less than a week away from Opening Day for the Phillies.  The 2023 Phillies season-ending left Philadelphia Sports Fans depressed with the team losing two straight games at Citizens Bank Park in the NLCS.  Can this year's Phillies team be better than last season?  Will a full season of Bryce Harper at First Base make a different?  Will Trea Turner and Aaron Nola be more consistent in 2024?

The Flyers are hanging on to the third playoff spot in the Metropolitan division with 12 games to go in the regular season.  Despite the Flyers loss in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes on Thrusday Night, they picked up a very important point in the Eastern Conference standings.  Somehow the Capitals are on the Flyers' tail despite Washington being sellers at the NHL Trade Deadline. The Flyers next three games are against the three of the best teams in hockey so it will be an interesting rest of the month for the Orange and Black.

The Sixers are just hanging on to their playoff hopes for dear life and with no definite date for Joel Embiid’s return, there are absolutely no expectations from the fans for a deep playoff run.  We will talk about it all this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim!

On Saturday’s show, Mike Carlin and producer Nick Earnshaw join me in the studio.  We will review our NCAA Tournament brackets and talk about which teams are still dancing.  In Hour One, we will hear from the 2002 National Champion Head Coach from the University of Maryland Gary Williams.  Coach Williams will talk about his experience winning the championship and tell us what it will take or this year's teams to win it all!  In Hour Two, the Sports Book Consigliere Dave Sharapan checks in from Las Vegas with his thoughts on March Madness.  Plus we will be giving away a pair of tickets to the Phillies Opening Day Game this Thursday versus the Braves in Philadelphia! 

On Sunday’s show, my Locker Room Youth Movement is back in the studio.  Producer Danny Ryan and "The Intern” Andrew Leeds will join me to recap the week in Philly Sports plus we will look at the NCAA Tournament weekend results.  The Phillies wrap up spring training in Clearwater on Monday and are head north for opening day this upcoming Thursday.  We will be giving away a pair of tickets this weekend.  Listen for details on how to win Phillies tickets!
