Atlantic Shore Team Honored with World Series Parade
Hundreds of people lined the streets in the communities of Linwood, Northfield, and Somers Point on Saturday.
The communities came together to catch a glimpse of the Atlantic Shore Babe Ruth 13-year old baseball team in a parade that celebrated their World Series championship win earlier this month in Jamestown, NY.
The players and coaches boarded a flatbed truck as they rolled through the Mainland towns, being led by local fire engines. Fans and people throughout the communities cheered the team on, made signs to congratulate the team on their accomplishment.
They finished with a celebration at DiOrio's Circled Cafe in Somers Point where friends and family welcomed the team.
Up next the team will be recognized on the field before the Phillies next home game on Thursday night against the Colorado Rockies during the team's Salute to Champions Night.
The team went 2-2 in pool play, then defeated Kai, HI, Tallahassee, FL, and then Norwalk, CT 10-7 in the championship game.
