Beach Replenishment Coming To These South Jersey Shore Towns
One of the biggest reasons why people visit South Jersey every summer is to enjoy the beaches. Whether you are making a day trip to the Jersey Shore or on an extended vacation, spending time at the beach is the highlight for many visitors.
One of the reasons why some of New Jersey's most Beautiful Islands are in South Jersey is attributed to these beaches. But the upkeep of coastlines for many Jersey Shore towns is a major investment that requires cooperation between the Coastal Community and other government agencies.
After seeing multiple South Jersey Shore Towns receive beach replenishment in 2024, two Coastal Communities in Atlantic County are scheduled to get their opportunity to start in November of this year.
What Beaches Will Be Worked On This Offseason?
The United States Army Corps of Engineers has informed the City of Ventnor that $38.2 million contract to the Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company for work on the Ventnor and Atlantic City Beaches.
According to reports, the plan is to pump 1,278,000 cubic yards of sand from the ocean to the Atlantic City Northend Beach and onto the Ventor Beaches. They are planning to begin the beach replenishment in mid-November.
The South Jersey Coastal Communities that received Beach Replenishment earlier this year were Sea Isle City, Strathmere, and Ocean City. Each year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards contracts and oversees beach replenishment along the Jersey Shore.
