Big Football Weekend in Ocean City, NJ + Eagles prepare for season

It’s a big football weekend in Ocean City as the High School's Carey Stadium hosts the 2023 Battle at the Beach Football Classic.  High Schools from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida will participate in this weekend's football showcase.  This is the third year that Ocean City has hosted the event and it is a perfect backdrop to kick off the 2023 football season.  There are 12 games on this weekend's schedule with consecutive games being played on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  The marquee matchup of the weekend features IMG Academy (Florida) versus St. Joseph's Prep (Pennsylvania) Saturday night with a scheduled 7 pm kickoff to be televised on ESPN2.

The Locker Room with Billy Schweim will broadcast Live from 10 am to 12 pm from the field at Ocean City High School's Carey Stadium.  Come out to watch some great high school football action with the guys from The Locker Room!

College Football's "Week Zero" kicks off this Saturday featuring the United States Navy Football team under new Head Coach Brian Newberry playing the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in Dublin, Ireland (Kickoff at 230pm and you hear the game on 973 ESPN South Jersey).  Plus another game I'm looking forward to see this weekend is San Jose State traveling to the Los Angeles Coliseum to play the Trojans of USC. 

The Phillies welcome to Philadelphia the struggling St. Louis Cardinals to Citizens Bank as the Phillies currently occupy the top of wildcard standings in the National League.  Christopher Sanchez gets the start Friday night followed by Zack Wheeler on Saturday Night and on Sunday afternoon we will see Aaron Nola on the mound.  Bryce Harper has been hot in the month of August, hitting .333 with seven home runs and a .421 On-Base percentage.  Let’s hope he continues to stay hot as we are just a week away from starting the final month of the regular season.

Finally, the Eagles wrapped up their preseason games on Thursday Night and now the organization will need to make some tough decisions to get the initial 53-man Roster this Tuesday with the regular season starting in two weeks.
