Can the Philadelphia Phillies fill the void left by the 76ers earlier than anticipated exit from the NBA playoffs?  The Sixers didn’t live up to the expectations of their fans again this season; The disappointment and despair is high in Philadelphia.  Ben Simmons and Tobias Harris seem to be the fall guys as people feel the need to blame somebody for their second round exit from the NBA Postseason.  However, Ben Simmons will be the focal point during the summer months as speculation will grow on whether or not Ben Simmons will ever play another game in a Sixers uniform.

The Philadelphia Phillies will now be in the hot seat over the next month before the Eagles begin training camp that starts at the end of July.  The Phillies have lost six of their last eight games before starting a four game set with the New York Mets this weekend that will define what type of team we have on the field: A playoff contender or a seller at the MLB Trade Deadline.  The Phillies pitching has let this team down by surrendering 46 runs over their last eight games.  The Phillies “Closer” Hector Neris blew his 5th save of the season and third in a row over that span and carries a 1-4 record with a 3.54 ERA this season.  It's time for manager Joe Girardi to make a change at the back of his bullpen.  The Phillies should be competitive in a weak National League East.

This weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim we will cover all the hot topics:

On Saturday’s show Scott McKay joins me in the studio as we recap the Phillies-Mets Friday Doubleheader.  Ben Simmons is a lighting rod and we will take a look at what's next for the polarizing player. The Ocean City High Baseball team won the State Group III Championship last Sunday afternoon.  We will talk with one of the Starting pitchers, Tom Finnegan, about the team's success.  Then we will continue our Beach Patrol Report and check in with the Chief of the Brigantine Beach Patrol Kip Emig and see what their plans are for a successful summer!

On Sundays showPete Thompson joins me in the studio as we talk baseball.  We will hear from another Ocean City starting pitcher who played a big part in their Championship run, Gannon Brady.  Brady will lead us off before we turn our attention to the Phillies and talk with my favorite Phillies player of all time Larry Bowa.  Bowa was always known for his tenacity as a player and manager, he will give his impressions on the current Phillies. Plus PT and I will NBA Playoffs, Sixers Eagles, and more to round out the show!
