Cedar Creek Alum Max Melton heads to Eagles in ESPN Mock Draft

We are less than two weeks away from the 2024 NFL draft, and mock drafts are coming in with plenty of predictions.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates posted a version where the duo alternated though the first 100 picks.

Of the Philadelphia Eagles’ eight total picks, three are within the top 100.

Here’s what Kiper and Yates see happening with Howie Roseman's first three picks.

First up with pick No. 22 the Eagles look to add to their offensive line with Georgia's Amarius Mims.

Lane Johnson will be turning 34, so Philly might be motivated to add depth at the position -- something it did in advance of Jason Kelce's retirement, too. Mims has just 803 career snaps under his belt but exhibits all-world physical tools, and learning from legendary line coach Jeff Stoutland would be great for him.

Mims played right tackle at Georgia, but has only eight career college starts under his belt.

On Round 2, Yates has the Eagles going with a local player, Cedar Creek alum, Max Melton out of Rutgers with pick No. 50.

The Eagles need to get faster on defense and add cornerback depth, both of which Melton would assist with in a major way. He's a four-year starter with excellent ball skills.

Melton, a Mays Landing native, was in Philly to visit the team on Tuesday and would add more depth to the Eagles secondary.

With pick No. 53 in the second-round, Kiper has the Eagles taking Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper.

Cooper might have been a first-round pick if he were drafted 10 years earlier. Teams just don't value off-ball linebackers these days, but he is my top-ranked player at the position. The Philly defense fell apart last season, and it has to get younger.

The birds signed Devin White and get Nakobe Dean back, but there are plenty of questions at the position.
