Check out where the new Chipotle is being built in South Jersey
Even though Cape May County still does not have a Chick-Fil-A located inside its borders, another popular restaurant chain is coming to Cape May Court House starting next spring.
Across the street from the ACME in Cape May Court House will be a new Chipotle Mexican Grill Restaurant that is currently in the process of being built. The lot next to the Mattress Firm on Court House-South Dennis Road is where the new Chipotle will be located with a ‘Chipotlane’. Unlike a regular drive-thru, this ‘Chipotlane’ is for advance orders made from the Chipotle App so customers do not have to leave their vehicles for pickup.
To make way for the new Chipotle Restaurant, an old medical office building is going through demolition and there have been delays to this project. In order to start this Chipotle project, variances had to be obtained from Middle Township for parking, signage, and a landscape barrier. Also, developers had obtain Waivers that would allow new spacing parameters for parking, alignment of the new building to the property lines, and clearance for the location of the new entrance drive, along with a community impact statement, an environmental impact study, and a traffic study.
In other words, a lot of red tape had to be navigated and many T's crossed to bring this new Chipotle to Cape May County. Hopefully, the citizens of Middle Township will support this new business considering other fast food chain restaurants such as Wendy's and Burger King were unable to stay in Cape May Court House over the years while the McDonald's has been there for decades.
