Former Eagles' head coach Chip Kelly interviewed today for the San Francisco 49ers' head coach position. That's according to a Thursday evening report from CSN Bay Area beat writer, Matt Maiocco on Twitter.

Kelly is trying to land a head coaching job in the National Football League since he was "released" from his contract with the Eagles on Dec. 30.  Kelly told FOX Sports' Jay Glazer that he wants to remain in the NFL and simply wants to coach, not control personnel.

San Francisco likely wants to make a splash after signing Jim Tomsula last season to replace Jim Harbaugh. Kelly would inherit a roster with serious talent deficiencies, but would be interesting to see him work with his offensive system with quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
