Former Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux is returning to Ottawa to play for the Senators, his 19th season in the NHL and his fourth season playing with Ottawa.
Contract Details for the 2025 NHL Season
Giroux, 37, who starred with the orange and black from 2007-2022, has signed a 1-year extension worth $2 million in base salary with the chance to earn $2.75 million in potential bonuses.

Giroux’s Legacy in Philadelphia
Giroux played 15 years in Philadelphia, making seven All-Star games. He scored 291 goals, with 609 assists in exactly 1000 games, while playing the most games as the team captain in Flyers history. He was traded on March 19, 2022, in exchange for a 2024 first-round draft pick, a 2023 third-round draft pick, and Owen Tippett.
Production in Ottawa So Far
Giroux signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Ottawa Senators before the 2022-23 season and has been in Ottawa for three seasons. The 37-year-old winger has scored 193 points (72 goals, 122 assists) in 245 games with the Senators.
While Giroux returns to Ottawa for his fourth season, for Flyers fans, he’ll always be remembered for being one of the all-time great players to wear the orange and black.
