Today should be opening day for Major League Baseball with teams rocking their fresh new uniforms for the season. Those NIKE uniforms are made by “Fanatics” a company owned and operated by Michael Rubin who is one of the owners of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rubin saw all of the fabric that should’ve been used for those uniforms sitting around the factory in Easton, PA and saw an opportunity for a clutch assist. “Fanatics” are using that fabric to create masks for the medical frontline workers, where there has been a massive shortage of Personal Protective Equipment, leaving these employees who are working in hospitals and doctor offices vulnerable.

Recently the Sixers organization was under fire for deciding to cut salaries of all employees making over 50k, only to reverse the decision shortly after. I give kudos to Rubin for using his resources and position to do some good in these crazy and challenging times of the COVID19 pandemic.
