Eagles’ best number: 1 (Touchdowns allowed in first three quarters).

Eagles’ worst number: 0 (First-quarter points scored for the fourth straight game).

View from my living room

This one was tough to watch. I would say it was like watching paint dry, but I’ve never actually sat long enough to watch paint dry.

Three stars

  1. Panthers running back Chubba Hubbard (28 carries for 120 yards and a TD).
  2. Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (20-for-39 for 281 yards and 2 TDs).
  3. Panthers linebacker Bobby Ekereke (8 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss, 2 pass defenses).

Eagles’ best play

Eagles wide receiver outfought Panthers cornerback Will Lee III to make a nice, 19-yard touchdown grab on a pass from quarterback Tanner McKee in the fourth quarter.

Eagles’ worst play

The tone was set when Ekereke burst through a hole in the offense live and sacked McKee for an 11-yard loss on the Eagles’ first play from scrimmage.

Turning point

Any chance of an Eagles’ rally ended when punter Braden Mann’s fourth-quarter punt was partially blocked, leading to Young’s 19-yard TD pass to Teairoa McMillan that put the Panthers ahead 25-14 with 6:38 left.

Did you notice? The Eagles have lost four straight for the first time since the 2020 season. … They last lost five in a row in 1994 under coach Rich Kotite. … McKee, making his first meaningful start in place of quarterback Jalen Hurts (blood clot in his leg), was under pressure all game. … The Eagles’ only TD was helped by a questionable non-call on a pass by the officials and a questionable pass interference penalty. … The Eagles and Panthers were called for a combined 24 penalties for 233 yards, including a franchise-record 149 penalty yards by the Panthers.
