I prepped for the Eagles game with 18 holes at Cape May National with good friend Frank "Tater" Smith. I should've played 36.

Three stars
1. Browns defensive end Olivier Vernon (3 sacks, including a safety)
2. Browns running back Nick Chubb (114 yards on 26 carries)
3. Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton (12 tackles, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovery)

Turning point
The Eagles closed the deficit to 12-10 on Jake Elliott's 43-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. The Browns promptly answered with a 79-yard drive that included a 54-yard gain by Chubb. Kareem Hunt capped it by hurdling over Eagles safety Jalen Mills for a 5-yard touchdown.

Eagles' best play
The Eagles' defense came up with a goal-line stand on Cleveland's opening drive. Singleton, Mills and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave stopped Hunt on fourth down from the 1-yard line.

Eagles' worst play
Carson Wentz was hit as he floated a screen pass toward running back Miles Sanders. Browns linebacker Sione Takitaki intercepted it and raced 53 yards for a touchdown.

Did you notice?
Vernon dominated Eagles left tackle Jason Peters, who struggled throughout the game. ... Eagles center Jason Kelce played the second half with a brace on his left elbow. ... Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson suffered shoulder injury. Jordan Mailata replace him. ... Chubb shoved Eagles defensive end Joel Ostman to the turf with a vicious stiff arm during his 54-yard run. ... Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery had no receptions for the second straight game. ... Wentz now leads the league with 14 interceptions.

Parting shots
Eagles coach Doug Pederson, on the possbility of benching Wentz: "You're sending the wrong message to your football team that the season is over. That's a bad message. We have to work through this."

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, on the win: "There is no such thing as an ugly win. That was a beautiful win for the guys."
