View from my living room:
An Eagles' victory did not take away the sting of the Phillies' elimination earlier in the week for my grandsons, especially 7-year-old Hampton who is still wearing his "Schwarbomb" t-shirt.

Three stars

*Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown (8 receptions for 130 yards and 2 TDs).

*Commanders quarterback Sam Howell (39-for-52, 397 yards, 4 TDs, 1 interception).

*Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts (29-for-38, 319, 4 TDS, 1 Fumble).

Eagles' best play
Brown provided the best play yet again with another terrific, one-handed catch for a 16-yard touchdown just before halftime.

Eagles' worst play
The Eagles' lost two fumbles down near the goalline, including one by Hurts while they were attempting their "Brotherly Shove" in the third quarter.

Turning point
The Eagles were trailing the Commanders 17-10 in the third quarter when Hurts threw a fourth-down pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith for a 17-yard gain. The football appeared to touch the ground for an incompletion, but Commanders coach Ron Rivera failed to challenge the play. Brown caught a 25-yard TD pass later in the drive to tie the game at 17-17.

Did you notice?
The Eagles are 7-1 heading into next week's showdown with the Cowboys (5-2).… Brown set an NFL record with 125 or more receiving yards in six straight games.… Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson had eight catches for 108 yards and a TD.… Howell's four touchdown passes were the most against the Eagles since Dallas' Dak Prescott threw five (January 8, 2022).… Julio Jones caught his first TD pass for the Eagles in the third quarter.… Newly acquired safety Kevin Byard was credited with seven tackles.… Commanders place-kicker Joey Slye had a 61-yard field goal in the second quarter. It was the fourth-longest field goal ever against the Eagles.  Dallas' Brett Maher holds the record with a 63-yarder in 2019.… Eagles rookie Jalen Carter left the game with a back injury in the third quarter.… Smith clinched the win by recovering an onsides kick with one minute left in regulation.… Eagles beat the Commanders twice this season by a combined 10 points.
