As expected, the Eagles activated defensive tackle Jordan Davis from injured reserve on Saturday ahead of their Sunday matchup against the Tennessee Titans.

Philadelphia placed safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson (lacerated kidney) on the IR to make room for Davis on the 53-man roster. The team also elevated LB Christian Elliss from the practice squad for the game.

Davis, the eagles first-round pick, has been sidelined since Week 8 when he left with a high-ankle sprain. He returned to practice this week and has been activated to play in the game on Sunday.

Davis had established himself as a key member of the Eagles defensive front before his injury. While Davis was out, Philadelphia added a pair of veterans, Linval Joseph and Ndamukong Suh to fill the void in the run defense.

Losing Gardner-Johnson is a huge loss to the defensie that is already playing without starting slot corner Avonte Maddox. The team is hopeful he can return after a four-game stay on the injured list and be ready for the playoffs.

In his place the team will turn to undrafted rookie free agent, Reed Blankenship.
