Eagles Add Defensive Tackle in Round Three
In round three the Eagles went over to the defensive side of the ball.
After taking a wide out and offensive lineman, the team finally addressed the defense, taking Louisiana Tech defensive tackle Milton Williams, taking him in the third round with the 73rd overall pick.
The team traded back from pick No. 70 with the Carolina Panthers, adding another sixth round pick in the process to take the talented defensive tackle.
The 6-foot-4, 278-pound Williams was the first defensive player taken by the Eagles in the draft.
Williams is a name that has been rocketing up draft board, with workout numbers in the range of Aaron Donald.
Per Pro Football Focus:
his reported 40-yard-dash and three-cone efforts were the best times by a defender weighing 280 or more pounds in the last 20 years.
He was named first-team All-CUSA and made 10 tackles for loss with 4.5 sacks among 44 total tackles in 10 starts. He declared for the 2021 NFL Draft after making 108 tackles and 10.5 sacks in this three seasons.
He played both tackle and end at Louisiana Tech, and his the Eagles could use his versatility in 2021 at both spots on the defensive line. The Eagles have Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave, but not a lot of depth at the defensive tackle position.
