Eagles Bring in Veteran CB Patrick Robinson

(973espn.com) - The Eagles filled another need at the NFL's spring meetings Tuesday, adding veteran cornerback Patrick Robinson on a one-year deal.

Philadelphia was in desperate need of a veteran presence at the position after losing both of their starters from a season ago, Leodis McKelvin, who was released, and Nolan Carroll, who fled to Dallas in free agency.

The 29-year-old Robinson was a 2010 first-round pick by the New Orleans Saints, and has amassed 49 career NFL starts and 10 interceptions with three teams -- the Saints, San Diego and Indianapolis -- during seven NFL seasons.

A groin injury limited Robinson to seven games last season in Indianapolis.

Robinson is immediately the Eagles' most accomplished corner joining a depth chart that includes second-year players Jalen Mills and C.J. Smith as well as veteran Ron Brooks, Dwayne Gratz, and a pair of former CFL standouts, Aaron Grymes and Mitchell White.

Brooks, however, is a candidate to be released when he is able to pass a physical stemming from the ruptured right quad tendon he suffered last season.
