Eagles Defense Must Play Better To Make Another Super Bowl Run
If the Philadelphia Eagles want to go deep into the playoffs and get back to the Super Bowl in consecutive years, they need to play better defense. Last week the San Francisco 49ers came into Lincoln Financial Field and had their way with the Eagles Defense scoring on six straight consecutive Touchdown drives. The Eagles allowed San Francisco with their balanced run/pass ratio to go through them like a hot knife through butter. 49ers Quarterback Brock Purdy threw for four TD passes and was 10-11 when the Eagles sent the Blitz at him. Also, star Running Back Christian McCaffrey made a case for the NFL MVP Award with 93 yards rushing and a Touchdown to go along with 40 receiving yards.
If the Eagles want to beat the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday Night Football and keep their Head Coach Nick Sirianni unbeaten (3-0) on Sunday Night, the defense must play better. Stats don’t lie: The Eagles rank 22nd in Total Yards Allowed on Defense and Fourth Most Pass Yards Allowed along with their defense being one of the worst in the NFL on Third Down allowing opponents a 47.3% success rate. We will analyze the Eagles versus the Cowboys game this weekend in The Locker Room with Billy Schweim.
The Flyers have won three straight games and they continue to surprise their fans by playing inspired hockey. Thursday night they beat the Arizona Coyotes at Arizona State University 4-1 and head their road trip this weekend in Colorado to play the one of the best teams in the NHL, the Avalanche. The Avs are currently in first place in the Central Division of the Western Conference. Colorado's best player, Cal Makar has been playing hurt but is a plus 16 with seven goals and 27 assists! If the Flyers can pull off a win against the Avs on the road, I believe the fans enthusiasm will increase as the Flyers finish their three-game road trip against Nashville on Tuesday night. You can hear both of those Flyers games on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey and on the free 973 ESPN Mobile App.
