The Philadelphia Eagles have made a change on their defensive coaching staff ahead of their Monday Night Football game in Seattle against the Seahawks.

Sean Desai will no longer make the calls, former Patriots defensive coordinator and Lions head coach Matt Patrica will take over that role.

The Eagles defense has been trending in the wrong direction since their Week 7 win over Miami.

The Eagles defense held the high-powered Dolphins to a season-low 244 yards and a then season-low 17 points (scored 14 at Chiefs 2 weeks later).

Since that game, the Eagles have been one of the worst defenses in the NFL, allowing the most yards per game and second most points per game.

Patricia takes over a defense that has now allowed 24.7 PPG this season, 28th in the NFL.

From 1966 to 2022, there were 401 teams to allow at least 24 points per game in a season. Only five of those teams reached the Super Bowl that year.
