Eagles rule Isiah Rodgers out for opener vs Green Bay
The Philadelphia Eagles defense is already without Devin White for their opener on Friday night and now will be without Isaiah Rodgers who will miss the game with a hand injury.
With Ridgers out, look for more of Kelee Ringo and Quinyon Mitchell at the cornerback position with Mitchell starting on the outside and sliding inside to the nickel spot in three-receiver sets.
Other options to consider include Cooper DeJean and Avonte Maddox potentially getting some snaps in the slot on Friday night with Mitchell staying outside opposite Darius Slay.
The new-look secondary will have to deal with Jordan Love, who has thrown two or more passing touchdowns and no interceptions in four straight games entering Week 1. The only Green Bay QB with a longer streak is Aaron Rodgers, who did it in seven straight in 2021 and five straight in 2014.
This would have been Rodgers first game since serving a season-long suspension for violating the league’s gambling policy. He signed with the Eagles back in August of 2023 and was reinstated in April of this year. He has appeared in 45 games as a pro, including 10 starts, nine of which came in 2022.
Rodgers was taken in the seventh round in the 2020 NFL Draft.
