The Philadelphia Eagles have a long tradition of getting production from the Tight End position. Ever since the organization drafted Brent Celek in the 5th round of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Eagles have almost 20 years of high-level play from that position.

The Eagles have gone from the reliable Brent Celek to the three-time Pro Bowl Selection Zach Ertz to the dynamic Dallas Goedert. Philadelphia Sports fans are so accustomed to quality play from the Tight End position that when Grant Calcaterra filled in for Goedert this season, fans were not surprised when he had 13 catches for 160 yards from Weeks 5 to 8 this past season.

But the Eagles' future at Tight End is in question because of Dallas Goedert's health. The 30-year-old Tight End has missed a total of 15 games over the last three seasons and only played 15 games once in the last five years.

Recent reports by NFL Insider Josina Anderson and Eagles Reporter Geoff Mosher have revealed that Philadelphia is considering the option of moving on from the Veteran Tight End. Dallas Goedert's future has now been further clouded by the latest Free Agent signing by the Eagles.

Philadelphia Adds Athletic Veteran Tight End To Roster For 2025

A report by NFL Insider Ian Rapoport states the Eagles are signing Harrison Bryant to a one-year deal worth up to 2 million dollars. The soon-to-be 27 year old Tight End has played four seasons with the Cleveland Browns and one season with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Listed at 6'5" and 230 lbs, Bryant was a Consensus All-American in 2019 and winner of the John Mackey Award (given to the Best Tight End in College Football). He was the number one receiving option at Florida Atlantic for an offense that averaged 36.4 Points Per Game under offensive-minded Head Coach Lane Kiffin.

Bryant was selected in the 4th Round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. His underwhelming performance at the NFL Draft Combine caused his draft stock to drop and he was ultimately the sixth Tight End selected in that year's draft class.

Yet Bryant has the second most Touchdown Catches of any Tight End selected in the 2020 NFL Draft Class. During his four seasons playing for the Browns, Bryant caught three touchdowns in three of those seasons.

While Dallas Goedert has better overall statistics compared to Harrison Bryant, Goedert has only played on one team with a losing record in his NFL career. Bryant has only played for a winning team twice in his five NFL seasons.

Bryant is three years younger and has proven to be more healthy over the years compared to Goedert. Eagles fans have a soft spot in their hearts for Dallas Goedert who has been a great teammate and a key member of their Super Bowl 59 Championship.
