PHILADELPHIA (973espn.com) - In advance of their preseason finale, the Eagles and Jets have swapped defensive backs with Philadelphia sending safety Terrence Brooks up the Jersey Turnpike for cornerback Dexter McDougle.

Both were 2014 third-round picks with Brooks starting his career further down the I-95 corridor in Baltimore before being waived by the Ravens last season. The Eagles picked up Brooks on waivers last season and he became a core special-teamer for Philadelphia.

The acquisition of Corey Graham lessened Brooks' perceived role with the Eagles and he was spun off for a player who appeared in just six games last season.

McDougle, meanwhile, was a teammate of Eagles' wide receiver Torrey Smith in both high school and college at Maryland and will be expected to compete for the slot role on Jim Schwartz's defense.
